So Ive finally sent my dissertation to print, the thing that has been driving me crazy for the past few months. I mentioned in my previous post that I was looking at ways in which brands could use location based advertising to target customers passing by. To be honest I have actually really enjoyed writing about it, although slightly sick of it towards the end the idea of geofencing could be the future of marketing. This might not make complete sense as you've not read my dissertation but here are some infographics I designed to sum up my whole idea. Enjoy, and let me know your thoughts!

Dream Job
Finally finished university for the summer and couldn’t be happier. My lack of posting was mainly due to my never-ending workflow towards the last few weeks, in particular my portfolio. One of the briefs set was to think of a way to grab the attention of a dream employer. With advertising being the career I intend of venturing into, I considered the ways in which I could stand out to creative director Damon Collins who previously worked for Y&R Advertising.
In order to grab his attention, I researched his interests and hobbies and discovered he has a strong love for Nike trainers, as he owns 47 pairs. With this in mind I suggested sending him a pair of paper Nike trainers designed by the illustrator David Brownings, with nothing but a QR code placed on the shoebox lid. The limited branding and lack of explanation aimed to intrigue Damon into scanning the QR code, which would then lead him straight to my online portfolio.
Understanding who you are targetting can make things a whole lot easier.

Minimalist Posters
I’ve been looking at minimalist posters recently, and I’ve decided I’m a huge fan. The concept behind them is quite simple; many posters just focus on an aspect or characters of a film and visualise them in a minimalist way. Feeling inspired by the range online, I decided to make my own. If you have seen the films you will understand my choice of icons and references. Its just a start but let me know what you think.

Pentland HQ
After being selected to present my Boxfresh campaign to the Pentland head quarters, myself and four others took a trip down to London on Wednesday. We were given a tour around the impressive head offices; from chill out zones to Olympic style swimming pools, it was far from your standard office. We then presented each of our ideas to a select group of Pentland representatives, which I have to admit was rather nerve wrecking but we all received really positive feedback. After that we were given a voucher to spend in their store, to which I stayed true to my brand and purchased a Boxfresh t-shirt. All in all it was a really good day, it was such a great opportunity to present our ideas and visit the head offices. If you didn’t have chance to check out my video that I posted in the summer have a look here and let me know what you think.

Self Promotion

With the hand in of this terms portfolio on friday, Ive had little time to blog, but here's a piece of self promotion work that had to be included. We were asked to design business cards including a logo to represent ourselves and display them in different contexts.

My Style: Three Floor
Blouse Three Floor - £78, Leggings H&M - £15, Shoe Boots Miss Selfridge - £35, Earrings Urban Outfitters - £10, Double finger ring Miss Selfridge - £6
After viewing the Three Floor collection in November, I knew I had to buy their stunning D’VIL Shirt. Falling in love with its embellished collar and asymmetric cut, it was my well-deserved early Christmas present. I have been so busy with work and this is the first chance I’ve had to photograph it. Along with my killer new shoes boots, that are painfully gorgeous, I couldn’t wait to blog this look. Going to Berlin on Monday, this might have to be an essential outfit to debut. Would definitely recommend indulging in one of Three Floor's exclusive designs, look at their website for more - http://threefloorfashion.com/index.php

drawn.
A few months ago I said I would do an illustration a month for my blog and with my never ending work
load at uni, I've literally not had time. So with it being the holidays I've finally had chance to make my second illustration just focussing on line drawing. Im quite interested in portrait graphics at the moment and want to start exploring different techniques and styles around this area.

Durex Advert
With advertising becoming a potential career path I would like to venture into, I've been playing
around with various advertsing ideas I could include in my portfolio. Here's one I thought of for Durex, targetting the younger audience a playful image and text highlight the importance of safe sex.

Branding Hunslet Hawks
I'm currently working on some branding for Hunslet Rugby club, with their new turnover, the club were looking for some graphics to promote new season. I played around with an idea for a poster, which they then posted on their online forum, which I have recieved some good feedback from. Along with that, they asked me if I would be interested in designing some products for the club, so I had a go and these are some of my designs. The marketing team were impressed with what I'd done and are now looking into selling them online after Christmas. I'm looking forward to working further with the club and hopefully getting more involved in their marketing projects.

Typography Portraits
I came across typography portraits a while back and I really wanted to make one,
but just haven't had time. Finally a weekend of no plans meant I have been stuck to my computer for the past two days. As a break from essay writing, I played around with creating my own typography portrait, I used a photo of myself and built up layers of the letter 's' and this was the outcome. Although it did take longer then I hoped, it has actually turned out quite well, could be interesting to use as a piece of self promotion for my university work.

Camden Town
After reviewing the new online fashion label Three Floor at the weekend, I decided to venture around London and made it to Camden. Despite the fact my feet were killing, I wondered the streets and instantly fell in love with it. From shoes merging out of buildings to amazing street art, Camden was the definition of cool. Quirky stalls with stunning pieces of jewellery, art and vintage clothing made it so hard for me not to spend money, I cannot wait to go back in a few weeks and make some purchases. Whilst I was there
I also took a few street style photos have a look - http://stefstreetstyle.tumblr.com/

Three Floor Press Day
After handing out my business cards at London Fashion Week I recieved an invitation to
a press day for the new online fashion label, Three Floor. Taking place at the House of St. Barnabas in Soho, I was invited to view the first collection and review it on my blog. I was so pleased I had been invited to the event as it is a great place to network and get my blog noticed. I arrived at the launch at 11am, located in the beautiful victorian house the clothing was displayed in boutique like style where I was introduced to the two designers who talked me through the collection. Starting with the stunning laser cut dresses, their aim is attention detail, creating one off pieces with delicate finishes. In contrast to the dresses hung the softest jumpers ever, the simple mint green and white geometric designs are a must have for this winter. Moving onto their biker inspired range were snakeskin prints, padded leather and two toned shirts. The designs were a fresh take on current trends, from jewelled collars to intricate detailing Three Floor is a brand to watch out for. Ive already got my eye on various pieces of the collection, follow this link to their website to see more.

Business Cards
Second university task, was to design a business card and plan an event for our tutor Michelle.
We did various research into Michelle and found out she used be a researcher and owns her own
research company. So as it is a business card, we focussed on selling Michelle as a researcher, after various brainstorming we came up with the event of a Murder Mystery night, although it is a bit tacky it also shows a fun side to Micelle as a researcher. When designing the event I thought of Barbara Krugers work and how well her text and imagery works together. This then lead us onto our business cards, Barbara Krugers most famous piece of art is "I shop therefore I know", we thought about how we could translate this into a card for Michelle, and came up with "I research therefore I know". This confidence and memorable card makes you feel assured that Michelle is the right researcher for you. We designed two other cards reading "the key to
research is knowing what to ask" and "the answer wont find itself".
Overall I was really pleased with outcome, and after presenting to the tutors we
recieved positive feedback on both our ideas and our presentation skills.

My Style.

Earings Aldo £4, Shirt Cow Vintage £1, Trousers Cow Vintage £1, Shoes Ebay £4
Handthong - Lucky sixpence company
Ive been thinking about doing styling photos for a while now and I suppose Ive just not had the confidence to actually do them. Its not a way for me to try pose like a model and put on my most expensive
piece of designer clothing, for me I want to show what I wear and how I wear it. Last month when I went to London fashion week I was surrounded by some of the most stylish people in London and when I looked at what I was wearing I realised my whole outfit was under £30. A little embarassing but at the same time it made me think that alot of things I buy are really cheap. Starting with this oufit.

Boxfresh
Over the summer we were asked to do project for uni and despite the fact it was work,
I actualy really enjoyed it. The brief was to look at two brands from the Pentland group, one fashion
focussed and one technology based and merge the two. My idea was to create a Boxfresh activewear
range using the same style and prints from Boxfresh but using the oddur resistant technology from Berghaus.
I worked with a friend of mine to create a stop motion video and two adverts, and I am really happy with the outcome. My work has been selected for the exhibition that will be held in Nottingham so the hard work actually paid off.
Would love feedback.
