Hort for Nike.

I came across these powerful visuals created by German design studio Hort for Nike,
and loved the simplicity of them. The use of overlayed images and text offers a less commercial
take on the brand, adding more depth and delivering more of a lifestyle advertisment.

Crafted

Last weekend whilst I was taking my street style photos, I stopped a man, stylish,
well presented and as it happened someone who was about to help me out a lot.
After taking his photo, he asked wether I was looking for work experience which of
course I am, he then went on to tell me he was the head of the menswear buying department
at Republic. A week later I found myself working in the Leeds Head Office as a buying
assistant. I can not belive my luck, definatly not something that happens every day!

I have done 2 days so far, and I am really enjoying such a great oppurtunity. I have agreed
to a three week placement helping the buying team for the mens wear brand Crafted that is
featured at Republic. Yesterday I was asked to create two Autumn/Winter looks to be worn
on the manequins for the VM window. Aswell as sitting in on a suppliers meeting, looking at
new products that are brought to the brand. Today was fittings day, where a Crafted model
tries on stock sent from suppliers, I was asked to make notes on any adjusments and then pass
them on. It was hard staring at a model for an hour but somebody has to do it!

the search continues.

Another successful weekend searching for quirky street style around Leeds,
it seems to be that the nice weather brings out the stylish people. Whilst stopping one
woman her daughter insisted that I take a photo of her, which was adorable. Not quite the
next Kate Moss but admired her confidence.

the girls that like to stand out.

Following my previous post on Leeds street style, I also picked upon the trend of
individuality. These are the girls who I think portray that unique look, the look
that you dont see in Topshop or on the high street. A mixture of vintage, retro
and one off pieces are the key to building this type of style. It's nice to see a fresh
look that isnt easily imitated and that shows character.

Charity chic.

This summer I have become a massive fan of charity shopping, everytime
I go into town I have to have a look. And I have found a few bargains, but today
I found the best thing I have ever bought in a charity shop. This gorgeous Chanel handbag.
When I saw it sitting in the window I had to have it, and when I found out it was
only £20 I couldnt leave it behind.

the boys steal the show.

As part of my summer project I have been asked to collect 50-100 street style
photos following a specific trend. Today I wondered around the streets of Leeds
in desperate search of quirky unique style. And within 10 minutes I found out that Leeds
is pretty stylish. After a good three hours of searching it seemed that the boys stole the show.
From geek, to sophisticated I was thoroughly impressed with how fashionable men in Leeds were.

worth the wait.

The one thing  never seem to buy enough of is jewellry. So whilst tryng to do some work
I ventured onto asos and found so many nice things. And for some reason I seem to think I have
a never ending bank account and baught my beautiful new ring and head chain. I larvvvve them. As
well as my spending online, I cant seem to stay out of the shops which led me to my silver ear cuff.
Absolute bargain, £1.99, I have been looking for one for ages and I found it jewellry shop I
would never usually step foot in!

Boo George

I have only just discovered the beautiful photography from Boo George. His
ability to create such a mood between the model and the camera is stunning.
Model Josh Tuckley has a way of building emotions into the set without even
looking at the camera, creating that soft yet troubled mood he knows how to work
with the photographer. You cant help but not take your eyes of the model.

DIY

In a recent post I talked about how much I liked body chains.
Unfortantly for me I have been struggling to find any on the internet, so I decided
to make my own. I bought some chains and rings from my local haberdasheri and made
my own body chain. I was quite impressed with the fact it cost me £2.30 to make and it
looks pretty good. A simple design that can be worn in several ways.

(apoligies for the rubbish photos)

The Haven Fashion Show

For the past three weeks I have been volunteering at the Breast Cancer support center
the Haven to help organise their Yorkshire Day Fashion show. And it was perfect. Despite all the
stress and preparation it turned out to be a great day. From liasing with guests to helping dress the
models the overall day was a great exprience for me to learn from. The level of corouge that the
models displayed today were admirable and when you realise how much each woman has been
through it makes everything worth while. It was an emotional and moving day and I am so glad
I got to exprience it with such amazing people.
