Vice Gore-nography

Ive chosen a gory themed photoshoot to post about tonight as it is Halloween. Last week
I attended the Vice.com launch party in Nottingham which reminded me how much I love Vice magazine.
As you can see in this photoshoot by Tom Beard, Vice magazine isnt afraid to stand out. These quite gruesome photos were plastered across their new website along other intresting articles. I find Vice magazine really quite refreshing, we are constantly surrounded by generic advertising and boring photoshoots and seeing imagery like this gives you hope that there are more interesting publications out there. I really like the ideas that come through in this shoot, definately making a statement, the models obvious posing is quite a witty and unusual approach.

Business Cards

Second university task, was to design a business card and plan an event for our tutor Michelle.
We did various research into Michelle and found out she used be a researcher and owns her own
research company. So as it is a business card, we focussed on selling Michelle as a researcher, after various brainstorming we came up with the event of a Murder Mystery night, although it is a bit tacky it also shows a fun side to Micelle as a researcher. When designing the event I thought of Barbara Krugers work and how well her text and imagery works together. This then lead us onto our business cards, Barbara Krugers most famous piece of art is "I shop therefore I know", we thought about how we could translate this into a card for Michelle, and came up with "I research therefore I know". This confidence and memorable card makes you feel assured that Michelle is the right researcher for you. We designed two other cards reading "the key to
research is knowing what to ask" and "the answer wont find itself".

Overall I was really pleased with outcome, and after presenting to the tutors we
recieved positive feedback on both our ideas and our presentation skills.

My Style.

Earings Aldo £4, Shirt Cow Vintage £1, Trousers Cow Vintage £1, Shoes Ebay £4
Handthong - Lucky sixpence company

Ive been thinking about doing styling photos for a while now and I suppose Ive just not had the
confidence to actually do them. Its not a way for me to try pose like a model and put on my most expensive
piece of designer clothing, for me I want to show what I wear and how I wear it. Last month when I went to London fashion week I was surrounded by some of the most stylish people in London and when I looked at what I was wearing I realised my whole outfit was under £30. A little embarassing but at the same time it made me think that alot of things I buy are really cheap. Starting with this oufit.

Pintrest

I was recently introduced to Pintrest, an online pin board where you can catalog and share
things you like. I wasn quite sure what to do on the site, but as you explore through the site, you
just find the most random invetions. It is actually quite inspirational, here are some of the things
Ive pinned so far, check it out if you havnt already.

Boxfresh

Over the summer we were asked to do project for uni and despite the fact it was work,
I actualy really enjoyed it. The brief was to look at two brands from the Pentland group, one fashion
focussed and one technology based and merge the two. My idea was to create a Boxfresh activewear
range using the same style and prints from Boxfresh but using the oddur resistant technology from Berghaus.
I worked with a friend of mine to create a stop motion video and two adverts, and I am really happy with the outcome. My work has been selected for the exhibition that will be held in Nottingham so the hard work actually paid off.

Would love feedback.

the models.

In between hanging up clothes and dressing the boys, I managed to take a few photos
of the models before they hit the catwalk. They all looked amazing, with clothing provided from Accent,
Asobi Fashion, Bo Carter, Kelly Ewing, Anita Ford and many more.

Leeds Fashion Show

This weekend I made a trip back home as I was working at Leeds Fashion Show, the last of my
summer work experience. On arrival I was informed that I would be dressing the male models, obviously I handled the role in a purely professional way, and enjoyed every minute of it. It was actually quite nice working with the boys as there were alot more laid back and easy to work with. My role was too make sure all the clothing was ready for each scene, the clothes were fitted correctly and everything was in order. Luckily for me there were no last minute dramas, all the models were great to work with and I managed to catch the end of the show. I had so much fun working on the event and some of the designs that appeared on the catwalk were stunning. I look forward to working at the event next year.

my visual cv.

As everything we have to do on our course has to be visual, we have been asked to develop
our cv's to make them more attractive to employers. I played around with a few layouts and this is my
favourite so far. I wont be surprised if I get told to do it again but at least Ive had a go at making it look
slightly more respectable than a plain word document.

Thoughts?

Accessorize

As happy as I was to see te back of this project, it was actually quite nice getting it back
and reading through my feedback to see how I can improve next time. In comparison to my
first report, I definatly saw that I had improved on certain aspects such as layout, ideas and
composition. Here are some photos of my lookbook, event invatation and parts of my report.

Yeo Valley

We all remember watching Yeo Valley's crazy farmer rapping advert last year and following the
success comes their new boyband take. I have to admit it, I love it. It is such a clever take on creative
advertising and the way it is produced works so well. The two minute video features fake boyband
"Churned" singing their new single 'Forever', the cheesy over the top advert is the best advert Ive seen
in a while. It instantly captivates your attention, whether you like it or not.

We Make Carpets

A friend recently sent me a link to this amazing website called We Make Carpets.
Designed by Marcia Nolte, Stijn van der Vleuten and Bob Waardenburg, a selection of carpets
have been created using everyday objects. The concept of the idea itself isnt hard but because the artists design such intricate carpets with such random objects its makes the whole idea so much more impressive. I would love to be able to create such amazing art, looking at work like this is so inspiring.
