'Change the Tune'

Michael Robbinson at London creative shop Agency Republic has designed one of the coolest posters I have ever seen. The poster is built up with knock sensors, wires, a plug socket and Audrino Nano and through some form of crazy technology if you throw something at the poster it changes song. Since the agency plays music via Spotify over the sound system the ‘Change the Tune’ poster has access to millions of songs for free. Very cool stuff.

best beer in the world

Described as being ‘one of the best ads in the world’, I have to admit even I was impressed with Carlsberg bottle opener advert. Pretty self explanatory, and great way to grab a guy’s attention!

red light district

Filmed in the Red Light District, in Amersterdam, Stop The Traffik has launched a new experiential ad film to raise awareness of sex trafficking. Instead of pulling sexual erotic poses, the women in the windows break into a dance routine which entertains the people passing by. A sign above the building later reveals ‘every year, thousands of women are promised a dance career in Western Europe - sadly, they end up here'. Cue lots of shocked and embarassed faces as the men watching are opened to the harsh reality of sex trafficking. Hard hitting stuff by Duval Guillaume.

the fridge magnet from heaven

Possibly one of the best inventions to date, the bluetooth pizza fridge magnet. Bought to you by Red Tomato Pizza, all you have to do is sync the fridge magnet to your phone, set up your favourite pizza and simply click the magnet to order. When the cupboards empty, or you just can’t be bothered to cook, this would be amazing. Just a shame its only available in America.

Minimalist Posters

I’ve been looking at minimalist posters recently, and I’ve decided I’m a huge fan. The concept behind them is quite simple; many posters just focus on an aspect or characters of a film and visualise them in a minimalist way. Feeling inspired by the range online, I decided to make my own. If you have seen the films you will understand my choice of icons and references. Its just a start but let me know what you think.

Reporters Without Borders

One of the most impressive uses of QR codes that I’ve seen is the talking campaign for
the free-press advocacy group Reporters Without Borders. The idea is to scan the QR code with your iPhone, then place the phone over the leader's mouth. The mouth starts talking but it's the voice of a journalist discussing media censorship in that country. When it comes to QR codes its not just as simple as placing the symbol on paper, brands need to start thinking of clever ideas that interact well with the public as well as putting a point across.

Airbag Ad

When it comes to car advertising, Volkswagen’s constant innovative campaigns and projects always seem to wow me. However I was reading an article on the 10 best magazine adverts and came across this video from Peugot explaining their ‘Airbag advert’. The idea was to place 50,000 mini air bags in Brazilian magazine Exame, and instruct the reader to hit the front end of the Peugot on the opening page to experience the safety of their new range. The air bag inflates on the following page and demonstrates the benefits of the new Peugot 408. Very interesting work from ad agency Loducca.
